IMMIGRATION officers have swooped on a car valeting company based at Asda's car park in High Wycombe.

A police van pulled up outside S.K. Valeting Services in front of stunned customers at around 10am on Saturday.

It is the second time in two years the company, in Holmers Farm Way, Cressex has been investigated.

An S.K. Valeting Services manager, who did not wish to be named, said the company had complied with all of its employee immigration che-cks that are required.

He added: "We are not in trouble.

"It's not our problem. It's the immigration service's problem."

The staff work eight hour shifts and the manager said the majority of his ten-strong team came from Africa and live in either High Wycombe or London.

The company only recruits for holiday cover or if someone leaves, which, the manager said, did not happen very often.

He said the company did not attract any more illegal workers than any other low skilled job.

If anything, he added, the checks they carried out with the Home Office were likely to put illegal workers off.

Penny Hodge, a spokesman for the Immigration Service, said: "We assisted in a police led operation in High Wycombe.

"One individual was detained by the Immigration Service pending further inquiries."

Two men were arrested on Saturday. A man in his 30s was handed over to the immigration services by police officers and another man was released three hours after the swoop.
