A SERIES of free sporting events will take place for children across South Bucks during the Easter holidays.
South Bucks District Council are offering youngsters between the age of six and 16 a chance to take part in a variety of sports and arts activities with the return of the popular ‘Games in the Park’.
SBDC’s Sport Development team is presenting a string of Olympic-themed events to build on the legacy of last summer’s sporting triumph in London.
From April 2 to 5, children can try their hand at a range of sports and arts throughout the district, starting at Iver Recreation Ground on April 2.
On April 3, the council are teaming up with leisure group Better to present the ‘Inspired in the Park’ challenge day at Holtspur Recreation Ground.
Participants will get the chance to take part in a number of organised sporting challenges including basketball, athletics and badminton.
The action then moves to Gerrards Cross West Common on April 4, before finally stopping off at Burnham Park on April 5.
Sports run from 10am to 3pm each day, with arts activities available from 11am to 2pm.
Councillor Anita Cranmer, Portfolio Holder for Community said: “Following on from the London 2012 Games last year, we aim to support the legacy by encouraging those who have been inspired to try a new sport and physical activity.
“Games in the Park is a great way of trying a variety of sports for free at your local park.”
Children wanting to take part can simply turn up on the day, but under-eights must be accompanied by an adult.
