TODAY’S list of the very best restaurants in the country sees highs and lows for eateries in South Bucks.

Marlow’s Hand and Flowers can crack out the champagne after retaining its two-star status after Michelin published its influential dining listings.

It caps another great year for Tom Kerridge, who along with his wife Beth is pursuing new venture ‘The Coach’ just a few hundred yards along West Street.

But it was a bad day at the office for Danesfield House, which lost its single star less than a year after the departure of chef Adam Simmonds.

Simmonds, who took the restaurant to its Michelin pinnacle during his seven-year tenure, was back in Marlow last week as the star guest at Marlow Food Festival.

Adam Simmonds at Danesfield house was named as the 12th best UK retaurant by the Good Food Guide in 2012 while the Marlow resident was at the helm.

Nearby Bray is still home to two of the finest restaurants in the country according to the Michelin experts, with The Fat Duck and The Waterside Inn retaining their three-star pedigree.

The original Michelin list was published by the French tyre company in 1900 as a guide for motorists looking for a good meal.

It has grown to become one of the most sought-after accreditations available, with the world’s best chefs continuously striving to up their game to add to their star collection.
