EFFORTS to plan for the worst if Marlow experiences a repeat of last winter’s terrible flooding will be discussed at a meeting dedicated to the subject next week.

Marlow Town Council issued a reminder this week urging residents to have their say at a public forum on the role councillors played in the relief effort and on plans for the future.

The meeting takes place on Thursday, October 9 at the Higginson Room, Court Garden, from 7.15pm.

Mayor Suzanne Brown said: "While Marlow Town Council does not hold an official role in the management of flooding in our area, we are committed to ensuring the best possible support to our residents should there be a recurrence of these events.

"We want to ensure that your views are taken into account in any future planning."

During the floods, the town council helped coordinated a multi-agency relief effort from its offices on Pound Lane near the worst of the flooding, and checked up on some of the most vulnerable residents.

While the meeting will not include representation from Thames Water, Environment Agency or other councils, residents’ feedback will be presented to all the agencies involved in the flood relief effort.
