A CHAPEL built especially to remember the fallen of World War One from a Marlow school will play host to a poignant service next month to commemorate the centenary of the conflict.

A special Remembrance Day vigil will be held at Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School chapel on Sunday, November 9.

An annual commemoration, this year parents, alumni and friends of the West Street school are invited to visit the memorial to pupils and former pupils lost in the devastating conflict.

There will be two sittings of the service, one at 12.30pm and another at 2pm in the chapel, which was erected as a permanent reminder of those lost in battle.

An exhibition of pupils’ work on WWI including History projects, English and French poetry will be on display.

And extracts from the school’s archive of the period can be seen alongside research undertaken by The Marlow Society into Borlase war casualties.
