A TV personality will be the guest of honour for a Marlow Society as she comperes its annual charity carol concert this weekend.

Horticulturalist Christine Walkden, who recently presented BBC1 series ‘Glorious Gardens from Above’, will introduce an evening of carol singing at Shelley Theatre, Court Garden, on Saturday evening.

The presenter is also well known for her appearances on Radio 4’s Gardeners’ Question Time and BBC1’s The One Show.

Carol Austin of Marlow Choral Society said: "We have a different compère every year at the carol concert. Each compère brings their own personality and sense of humour to the evening.

"We’re looking forward to hearing Christine’s gardening tips for Christmas!"

Last year, newsreader and presenter Mary Nightingale acted as host for the group's biggest ever Christmas concert.

Saturday’s event will mark stalwart member Jackie Duxbury’s 23rd consecutive year organising and conducting charity carol concert.

This year proceeds will go to the Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance and St Clare Hospice, Harlow.

Tickets are available from Runners’ Retreat, 33 West Street, Marlow priced at £12 (children £6).
