A charitable group of Marlow women received an intercontinental message of thanks this week from a community in India after its most recent project.
Marlow Inner Wheel Club has been working to support two of its international charities, including DEVI, which provides dental equipment to communities across India.
Inner Wheel member and hygienist Julie Davies travelled to Kerala to treat 400 children and teach them about dental hygiene.
And schoolchildren who benefitted from the work showed off their smiles as they thanked the Marlow-based club for their contribution.
Member Joan Clerehugh said: “It [DEVI] sends qualified people to remote villages in India to treat and teach children about dental hygiene. The nearest dentist will be miles away and unaffordable.
“Marlow Inner Wheel donated funds which were used to buy tooth brushes to give out to the children. Encouragement to the children came in the form of teddies knitted by members and friends of the Club.
“The happy faces show us the value of these projects.”
The busy philanthropists also held a sewing bee to stitch sleeping bag liners for children in Sierra Leone who have been orphaned by the Ebola virus.
Members joined forces with their counterparts in Oxon and Berkshire to ship out over 400 to communities devastated by the outbreak.
