A sports day for 120 primary school children is being staged next week to officially launch a new athletics track in Little Marlow.
With finishing touches now complete on the £2m centre, an athletics competition will be held on March 16 as a test run for the eight-lane track at Westhorpe Park.
Wycombe District Council have invited years five and six from Burford School in Marlow Bottom to put the course through its paces.
And other schools will get the chance to set their personal bests at the new facility later this year.
Organiser James Cavalier said: “We will be working with a lot of other schools moving forward from this opening launch event and have started looking at dates with the School Games organiser to arrange some competitions for this summer term.”
The complex replaces the existing track at Handy Cross, where work is underway to erect a new multi-million pound sports centre.
