Two firms from Buckinghamshire have won a prestigious award from the Queen for outstanding success in business.

Marlow-based consultancy company Curo was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise after seeing its export sales climb a staggering 684 per cent in the last three years.

Curo, which supplies services to the pharmaceutical industry, scooped prize this week in the 50th anniversary year for the monarch’s birthday award.

Based on Dean Street, it has 12 employees and has achieved massive growth worldwide since founding in 2002.

Meanwhile, business language and translation experts RWS Group based in Chalfont St Peter won the award for the fifth time.

RWS now has over 300 employees since starting out in 1982, and took the award this year for growth in overseas earnings after earning the title in 1987, 1994, 2004, and 2009.

Both companies are among only 141 that have won this accolade.

Both firms will receive their award from Buckinghamshire's Lord Lieutenant, Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, in the summer.

Sir Henry said: “The award's aims of promoting excellence and driving economic growth seem as relevant as ever, particularly in the light of our national efforts to boost exports.

“It's good to see Curo, one of the county's numerous small companies, honoured - a great tribute to Buckinghamshire as the entrepreneurial heart of Britain.”
