A DARING duo will take on the “unique” challenge of swimming England's largest lake before cycling to Wales' largest mountain – and then climbing it.

Marlow residents Chris Newell, 30, and Heath Freeman, 40, will tackle the unusual 'triathlon' going from Lake Windemere to Mount Snowdon.

The pair are no strangers to gruelling outdoors challenges having been part of a four man relay team which swam the English Channel last year.

The quartet clocked the fastest time of the year at 9 hours 29 mins.

The pairing begin the three part task – beginning with the nearly 11 mile swim – on Friday 13.

Chris, of Station Road, said: “Hopefully it's not a bad omen. I'm dreading the bike ride because we will have to about 10 miles in one day.

“This is the first year I have ever got on a road bike and it will be quite torturous.”

The cycle to Mount Snowdon is 170 miles and then face a climb of more than 3,500ft to the summit.

Chris, who works at corporate recovery firm RSM Tenon, said: “I don't think anyone has done anything quite like it before, it's unique.”

Heath, a director at events company Pinnacle, of Savill Way, Marlow, has joined Chris in practice swims along the River Thames from Cookham to Hurley.
