CONCERNS over the new railway timetable to London from Princes Risborough were brought to the forefront by county and district councillors at a meeting with railway bosses.

Buckinghamshire County Council Cabinet Member for Planning and Transportation Peter Hardy, Risboroughs county councillor Carl Etholen and  Wycombe District Council leader Alex Collingwood met with Rob Brighouse, managing director of Chiltern Railways.

The county councillors requested the meeting as a result of concerns raised by rail users over the timetable, which started on December 9.

The timetable has been met with criticism by rail users from Princes Risborough and Saunderton who say the changes has left bigger gaps and less peak time services.

But Chiltern Railways said the new service pattern has delivered an increase in the number of seats available to passengers at Princes Risborough.

Cllr Hardy said: "We have had a very helpful meeting with Chiltern Railways on this important issue for our residents in Princes Risborough, Saunderton and the surrounding communities.

"Of course, I recognise and welcome the work Chiltern Railways has done in increasing capacity and reducing journey times from several stations.

"However, there are a number of residents who feel this service isn't working for them, and we have today made these representations to Chiltern Railways. They have assured us that they remain open to feedback of their services, and we will continue to argue for changes that will positively impact on the service for these passengers."

Mr Brighouse will be attending a meeting of Princes Risborough Town Council on Tuesday, January 15 to speak with residents who have been affected by the changes.
