A creative youngster has been crowned Young Games Inventor of the Year after inventing her own board game.
Nine-year-old Isla Lloyd-Evans was awarded the Judges Award after taking part in the second annual competition.
Isla impressed the judges of the Young Games Inventor of the Year competition with her board game called HexaCollect, which challenges players to navigate around a board to collect multi-coloured hexagon flowers.
The young creator fended off competition from hundreds of other children across the country to win the award.
Isla’s mum, Catherine, said: “We’ve always played games with Isla from a young age. She’s even chosen to do workbook exercises all about board games, so when I heard about the Young Games Inventor competition I knew she had to enter.
“HexaCollect came about because of Isla’s love for symmetry and shape. She finds hexagons really interesting.”
Isla was rewarded with a day trip to Toy Fair, the biggest toy and games event in Britain, where she was interviewed by the media and got to pick out prizes to keep.
In the coming months, the design and production team at the Green Board Game company, who organised the competition, will finalise the designs of the winning games, with each child receiving a prototype of the finished product to take home.
