A PETITION to stop the Plough pub being demolished and turned into six flats has been handed to planning officials.

Members of the Green Verges Neighbourhood Watch Group gained 210 signatures for their protest, which centres on fears over parking chaos and the scale of the three storey plans for Little Marlow Road.

Leading campaigner Sue Winter, pictured, presented the petition to Wycombe District Council this week.

She said: "Although I'm not that optimistic after speaking to the planning officer I'm still very glad I did the petition and we'll have to see what happens from here on in."

A first application for seven flats was withdrawn by developer The Plough Marlow Ltd after objections but it said it has worked hard to improve the scheme taking into account these comments.

A decision is expected before October.
