The chairman of a residents association in Risborough said he is delighted to become a new town councillor.
Ian Churchill, who has been the chairman of Risborough Area Residents Association (RARA) since November last year, will take his place as an independent on Princes Risborough Town Council from May 7.
The makeup for the town council has already been decided as all of the parish council seats were uncontested.
Mr Churchill will be working alongside Andy Ball, John Coombs, Gary Hall, Iain McLauchlan, Adrian Rolfe, Pamela Summerbell, Alan Turner, Mags West, Kyle Wilkins and Wally Woolf on the town council.
He said: “I'm delighted to be a councillor, although I'm rather disappointed the election was uncontested and I will not get the opportunity to campaign.”
Mr Churchill hopes to remain chairman of RARA, which stepped up its mission to raise awareness of the local plan with a powerful poster campaign last month.
He said: “Both roles are about representing the local community, speaking out on issues that affect members/constituents and working for a better Risborough. So, I think they (the roles) are complementary, and my plan is to continue as RARA's chair, subject to our members' approval at the next AGM.”
