The High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire will cut the ribbon and officially open a new public defibrillator at a ceremony in Princes Risborough on Friday.  

Mrs Francesca Skelton, the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire since April, will declare the life-saving equipment open for use on Friday morning. 

The launch, which starts at 10.30am, will be hosted by Jason Thelwell, Bucks Fire and Rescue Service’s chief fire officer, and Councillor Adrian Busby, chairman of Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Fire Authority. 

Representatives from South Central Ambulance Service, defibrillator suppliers WEL Medical, Princes Risborough’s community first responders, Princes Risborough Golf Club and Risboro’ Garage. 

Risboro’ Garage and Accident Repair Centre provided this defibrillator, as well as another at the golf club and an emergency 4x4 vehicle as part of its support for the Rural Community Defibrillator Project. 

Jason Thelwell, said: “This scheme is a further step towards achieving our aim of making Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes the safest places in England. 

“Our job is to save lives in our community. and we will continue to embrace new ways of working with partners to reduce deaths and injuries.”

CPR and defibrillator demonstrations will be taking place and members of the public are encouraged to come along to launch and learn how to use the equipment. 

MP for Buckingham and Speaker of the House John Bercow was due to cut the ribbon, but is now unable to attend.
