Princes Risborough is being pruned and perfected in preparation for their first ever Britain in Bloom competition next month.

Judges from the Thames and Chilterns in Bloom organisation will be taking in the best sights around Princes Risborough, Monks Risborough, Askett and Whiteleaf when they visit on July 15.

A committee, including representatives from Monks Risborough Primary School and Monks Risborough Horticultural Society as well as Councillors, met at Princes Risborough Town Council offices on Wednesday to discuss ideas for a route showing off everything the area has to offer.

The Princes Centre gardens, Brush Hill, Whiteleaf rag pit, allotment sites in Askett, St Dunstan’s in Monks Risborough, Monks Risborough Primary School, Stratton Memorial Garden, Duke Street gardens, Wades Park, High Street, Horns Lane, Horsenden and Park Mill ponds have all been earmarked for visiting.

Art in the Park will also return to Wades Park in time for the judging.

During their two-hour tour, the judges will be looking for examples of outstanding parks and open spaces, quality plants and natural wildlife areas as well as examples of community participation and management of litter, empty shops and dog fouling.
