A TV personality dropped in at a south Bucks charity this week to get some help training her puppy.

Birds of a Feather star and Loose Women panellist Linda Robson visited Hearing Dogs for Deaf People in Saunderton yesterday with her five month old French Bulldog, Ernie, who is deaf.

Linda and her daughter Bobbie visited the charity's centre on Wycombe Road to pick up some training tips from specialist hearing dog trainer Tom Green.

The TV star said: "Hearing Dogs really is a wonderful charity - it's amazing what they do.

"Everyone who I have met here, including all of the dogs, are so happy to be a part of it. I didn’t expect such a beautiful site either, and hope to return soon."

The family first brought Ernie home in December and very soon realised he was deaf when he failed to notice any loud noises.

Spotting Linda discussing Ernie’s deafness on Loose Women, Hearing Dogs got in touch to offer a helping hand.

Mr Green said: "We train all of our clever dogs using sign language, so that a deaf person is able to communicate with their companion.

"Of course these techniques also help when working with a deaf puppy, so we really hoped we would be able to offer Linda some support.

"Linda and Ernie did such a fantastic job, Ernie is a very bright young dog and a quick learner."

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, which relies entirely on public donations, trains dogs to alert deaf people to important sounds that they would otherwise miss such as the doorbell, telephone and smoke alarm.
