CHESHAM United continued their late bid for the play-offs with a 3-1 win at Hitchin Town last night.

Having won 2-1 at Southern Premier League leaders Leamington on Saturday, Andy Leese's team picked up another three points to bring the top five almost within striking distance.

Leese said: "We need to keep backing up one win with another, but I was encouraged by what I saw at the weekend and really encouraged by last night.

"Realistically we've still got a chance."

James Potten put them in front at Hitchin, before a deflected shot from Dave Fotheringham and an Inih Effiong goal wrapped up the win.

On Saturday they host Cambridge City.
