DAI Young has spoken up again for the quiet man of his fast-improving pack.

Matt Mullan has played six of Wasps’ seven games this season since signing for Worcester and has gone about his work with understated efficiency.

Young said: “Matt has been excellent since he’s come, not only with his performances but around the club and with his professionalism.

“We’ve been really pleased with what he’s brought. His workrate on the field is excellent.”

The 26-year-old won his only England cap three years ago, but Young thinks he could force his way back into international reckoning if he maintains his level.

He said: “He came here as a little bit of a forgotten man of English rugby but I’d like to think that one or two people are starting to stand up and notice that he’s still got a career in front of him.”

Mullan is only one part of Wasps’ dramatic improvement in the pack this season, with fellow prop Jake Cooper-Woolley also impressing since signing from Cardiff.

Young said: “Jake on the other side has really come of age as well.

“We know there are big games to come and they’re going to be tested, but we’re really pleased with them.
