ANTHONY Stewart said scoring twice in two games is proof he hasn't lost his touch in front of goal - meaning he's likely to be quids in at the end of the season again.

Now a central defender, Stewart began life at Wanderers as a midfielder and used to feature regularly on the scoresheet.

He's a less frequent scorer these days but netting in back-to-back games has taken his season's tally up to three.

It means he's in line to win a pre-season wager with Marvin McCoy and Charles Dunne on which of the three would finish top scorer.

Stewart won the bet last year as well and his recent form in front of goal has led to his team mates trying to call off the bet.

He said: "Last season I had a bet with Marvin and Charles and I won it by the one goal. This season they have got a long way to go because I've got three now.

"After the Accrington game they offered me half. They said take half now or let it run to the end of the season - I'm happy to let it run to the end of the season."

He added: "In the youth team I used to score often so there's nothing odd about doing it in the first team.

"I've never played up front but I came to Wycombe as a 15-year-old as a central midfielder. It wasn't set pieces, I was more lethal from open play. I did score a lot from midfield to be fair. I haven't lost my touch - it's always going to be there."

The 21-year-old has scored from the same corner routine two weeks running and he said manager Gareth Ainsworth and assistant Richard Dobson should take the credit for coming up with the plan.

He said: "The gaffer and Dobbo are very strict on set pieces. Set pieces win games at this level so they are very strict on it. We always work on it in training and it's paying off."

Stewart's form is likely to keep him in the Wanderers side that plays Crewe Alexandra in the FA Cup on Saturday and he's out to make amends after last season's elimination by the same opponents.

He said: "I need revenge because last year I came off injured at half time. Hopefully this season I can stay on the pitch for 90 minutes and get a result. I'm excited about the FA Cup. If you go on a cup run you can always upset the big teams."

And he hopes to draw on his experience of captaining Wanderers' youth team to cup victory in 2011.

He said: "In the youth team I remember us winning the Youth Alliance Cup by beating Darlington on penalties in the final. It's one of the highlights of my career because I was the captain of the youth team. It was great to lift the cup for the boys."
