FOUR points separate third to seventh in the Aviva Premiership table and Wasps believe good results against Bath and London Irish next week could catapult them into the top four.

Wins in their last two Premiership matches, against Leicester and Gloucester, lifted them from 11th to seventh and now the black and golds are hoping to make another leap in the next fortnight.

Defence coach Brad Davis said: “We had that brace of games where we did well against Leicester and Gloucester, which was really important for our season.

“We mixed things up a little bit for the LV and went none from two, but we’re not looking too much into that. We weren’t delighted with our performances, but we gave a few opportunities and had to rest a few of our players who’d played a lot of rugby.

“Now we feel like it’s back in the mix time. The competition is broken up at this stage of the season and it is a little stop start, but it does give you the opportunity to focus your mind.

“We have two Premiership fixtures before we go back into Europe and they present a great opportunity to push on in the table.

“It’s an opportunity we have to be prepared to take. Whichever of those teams that are so closely matched in the table manages to get a positive outcome from these two games will probably cement themselves in the top four.”
