GARETH Ainsworth said he might have to change his superstitions as he looks to end Wanderers' terrible run at Chesterfield's new ground.

Now called the Proact Stadium, it's proved an unhappy hunting ground for Wycombe in the three years since it opened.

Defeats to the tune of 4-1, 4-0 and 3-1 have come their way and with the Spireites flying high again this season Ainsworth joked he might need a different tactic to change his side's fortunes.

He said: "The season we were promoted we got beaten, the next season we got beaten and last season again we got beaten quite heavily. There just seems to be some sort of hoodoo about it so I might try something different. I don't know what - walking backwards through the dressing room just to try and get rid of the jinx that we seem to have."

Blues go into the game with momentum on their side after a midweek win and Ainsworth said his men tend to do better away from home and against the sides higher up the division.

Chesterfield started the season by winning seven of their first eight before grinding to a halt with a seven match winless streak, although they got back to winning ways at Torquay last week.

Ainsworth said: "This division is a lot closer than it has been for a long time. Anyone can beat anyone and people have proved that by beating Chesterfield. There's nothing to fear there. We can go up there and put our game on people.

"We weren't really at the races against Cheltenham but we were against Crewe. It was a great way to put things right and to impose our game on a team.

"The opposite seems to be apparent now on Saturday with Chesterfield flying high and being strong in our league. The way we played the other night proves there's not much between the two divisions [Leagues One and Two] if you get it right. We definitely got it right and we'll have to get it right again on Saturday.

"Our away form's probably one of the best in the league and we have to take heart from that and prepare right, and keep doing what we're doing because it's working.

"I don't want to tinker much with anything away from home - we've been fantastic and the lads are performing well and getting the points."

He added: "They're a big side with a big budget and were tipped for the top early on. Paul Cook knows how to get results. They took him from Accrington quite early in his career and he's proved a quality acquisition for them. He'll try and get the ball down and play but they do well on set plays, which is a big thing for us to watch.

"We seem to play better against the better teams. We seem to only be beaten by the teams below us, which is a crazy thing to have.

"We've got an up and coming bunch who seem to be gelling together and I've got options - anyone can play anywhere. We've got strength in depth and we'll be a match for Chesterfield."

Wanderers will again be without the injured defensive duo of Kortney Hause and Nick Arnold and strike pair Jo Kuffour and Jon-Paul Pittman.
