BLUES boss Gareth Ainsworth said he's tempted to treat Tuesday night's home game with Exeter City as an away match as Wanderers try to turn their faltering form at Adams Park around.

Wycombe have lost half of their home League Two matches this season and Ainsworth said a change of approach might be in order to get back to winning ways.

He said: "What we tended to do last year when we got good results was get them in quite early on the day of the game and had pre match at the ground and I'll be thinking about doing something like that - maybe getting them together and getting them away from distractions in the afternoon and really focus in on it."

Ainsworth said winning football would be the only way to get the fans back, although Wanderers aren't the only team to be struggling in front of their own supporters.

Oxford United top the table despite winning just two and losing three of their eight home matches, meaning 13th placed Wanderers have picked up more points in front of their own fans than the League Two leaders.

Ainsworth said: "We've proved we can win at home, it's just making it consistent. We'll find the key and when we do we'll hopefully unlock it and keep the performances consistent. If we can match our home form with the away form, we'll be more than happy and be right in that top bunch of teams.

"It's the consistency throughout 46 games, not home or away, although we do need to address our home form. We want to get better at home, we want to play good attacking football and get the fans back. We've got a big FA Cup tie against Preston coming up and we need to sort this out before that comes along."
