BULLISH Wanderers players and staff are convinced a big win is just around the corner if they keep their levels of performance up.

A failure to take chances has cost Blues dearly in recent weeks and it was the same again on Tuesday night as a 1-1 draw with Exeter extended their winless run to five matches.

Manager Gareth Ainsworth has been encouraged by recent displays however and feels his side are ready to dish out a hammering.

His views have been backed by Billy Knott and Matt Ingram, who see no reason why Wanderers can't turn their fortunes around at Dagenham and Redbridge tomorrow.

Ainsworth said: "I fancy us to score a few goals in one game because of the chances we're creating. Watching the video again from Tuesday night, we created so many it's hard to see them not going in and the lads not taking them. Maybe there's a little bit of confidence of front of goal [lacking] and sometimes we have more time than we think.

"I'm sure if we keep playing the way we are and creating the chances then we are going in the right direction. If we weren't creating chances I'd be a bit more worried than I am at the moment.

"We are all talking in there thinking how we can make us better, how can we make us hit the target and start scoring these goals. That's what we'll be working on in the next few days.

"I think we are going to stick a few goals in in one game soon and hopefully it can be in one of the next few.

"The fans know we are creating the chances. I could feel they were frustrated at the end just as much as me, because we hadn't stuck any in. We'll keep going, we'll keep working hard on it."

Midfielder Knott said: "We've gone through a rough stage in the league at the moment with a draw on Tuesday where we felt we could have got a win, and the second half Saturday where everyone performed really well. If we take that through to 90 minutes instead of 45 I think we'll start getting a few wins on the board and push up the table again.

"If you're not putting the ball in the goal it's not going down as a win. We've had a few chances and we have to start taking those."

At the other end of the pitch it's been a lonely existence for goalkeeper Ingram, who's not been kept busy in recent weeks with more of the action down the other end of the field.

He said: "Frustrating's the word. We've been playing pretty well and just had lapses of 10-15 minutes where we've fallen back and conceded goals. If you look at the stats we've had more shots than the opposition - we need to be a bit more clinical.

"I haven't been that busy but I've been conceding goals. It's horrible but there we go.

"We just need a little win and our run of form will change. We've been performing well, we need that little bit of confidence to say we can do it."

After tomorrow’s game Wanderers travel to Portsmouth for a rearranged League Two match on Wednesday.
