THE potential within Wycombe District Swimming Club ranks was borne out at the South East Regional Championships, where three of their best hopes returned with medals.

Luke Thomas set the standard high with two silvers in the junior and open 400m individual medley.

Liam Jones wasn’t far behind as he picked up bronzes in the boys 50m and 100m backstroke.

He also came fifth in the 200m backstroke, while Daniel Manners raced to third place in the boys 1,500m freestyle.

Issy Baxter was also in impressive form as she claimed four top ten finishes, in the 400m and 800m freestyle as well as the 400m individual medley and 200m butterfly.

Beth Hurst was ninth in the 50m butterfly while Fiona Shaw came in fifth and seventh in the 800m and 200m freestyle respectively.

In total Wycombe sent an elite squad to 22 to the championships while Wycombe also had great success at development meet in Aylesbury, where they had a number of multiple winners.

Cameron Brooker won all seven of his events, Rachel Cox won six times with Jack Cox touching the wall first four times.

Emily Gladding also won four races while Timur Gulyiyen was unbeatable with an incredible 12 victories.

Tom Ross won three races alongside four second places, while Millie (six out of six) and Thomas (nine out of ten) Sansome (six) were also on top of their games.

Kathryn Reid added another nine victories for the club, Jan Poulton won three times and Thomas Lundie-Sadd twice Other winners were Harry Engall, Ayodele Evanson, Matthew Telling, Madeline Turner, Nicholas Reid, Oliver Ross, Abby Matthews, Harriet Pugh, Lucy Lavender and Naveesha Karunanayaka.
