Reasons to be cheerful for Bloomfield
MATT Bloomfield said there were plenty of positives to take from Wanderers' draw against Morecambe despite being hit by a late equaliser.
The Shrimps managed to snatch a point despite Blues controlling the game and having several good chances to add to a lead given to them in the first half by Paris Cowan-Hall.
Kevin Ellison scored from the only clear cut opportunity Morecambe created all afternoon thanks to an impressive defensive display from Wanderers.
Bloomfield admitted to being frustrated at failing to claim a much-needed win but said there was more good than bad about the performance.
The long-serving midfielder said: "We're a little bit disappointed to not hold on in the second half. We had the opportunities to extend that lead and we didn't do so, but we should be really pleased with the way we performed.
"There's a lot of positives to take. We looked a lot more solid and had a lot more shape about us. The lads at the back defended superbly and it was a real big effort. First half we got a lot of balls into their box and maybe could have gone in more than one up.
"Away from home if you're offered a point you'd probably take it, but equally I fully believed we'd win the game."
A poor pitch that had to survive an afternoon inspection made life tricky for both teams and Bloomfield said: "It was so heavy. We trained at the training ground on Tuesday in the deluge of rain we had, so that was good preparation for today."
