Bucks batsman ready to take Bangladesh by storm
ALEX Hales scored nine and 16 as England warmed up for their opening World Twenty20 match with successive defeats this week.
England begin their campaign against New Zealand tomorrow and also play Sri Lanka, South Africa and a Group B qualifier in their Super 10 fixtures.
However, their form is patchy to say the least after losing the Twenty20 series in West Indies at the start of the month as well as subsequent warm up games against the West Indies and India.
But Stuart Broad is captaining a new-look England team in Bangladesh, and former Gerrards Cross batsman Hales is one of those hoping to take his chance on the international stage.
The 25-year-old made his England T20 debut against India in August 2011 and the following year was Man of the Match as he scored 99 off 68 balls against the West Indies.
He has now played 27 T20 internationals with an average of 34 at the top of the order.
But if England are going to make in Bangladesh, the big hitter from Bucks is going to have score big runs.
Quickfire knocks of 40 and 38 at the end of the West Indies series were encouraging, but he was dismissed for nine in a World Cup warm-up against the same team on Tuesday and was out for 16 against India a day later.
England lost both matches to make it seven defeats in eight games.
