MARLOW manager Mark Bartley says he’s expecting a few difficult conversations in the coming weeks as he turns an eye to next season.

After leading the team to promotion from the Hellenic League is his first year in charge, Bartley has now backed it up with survival in the Southern League.

However, after giving the players that first won promotion another season to prove themselves, he thinks changes are needed.

He said: “We’ve got three games left and I’ve pretty much made up my mind on the players I want to keep.

“There are only question marks over one player. Other than that I’ve made my mind up and unless they show me something I’m not expecting, I know what side of the fence they’ll fall.”

Barley expects to keep about 11 of his current squad, with six or seven new faces coming in.

He said: “There are a number of players I’m very pleased with and about the same number that haven’t come on.

“I’ve got a few tough conversations to have.”

Marlow did bounce back to grand style with a 7-2 drubbing at Northwood last Saturday, when Jon Bennett scored another four goals. Marcus Mealing, Ian Davies and James Rusby also scored.

On Saturday they host Beaconsfield before going to Chalfont St Peter on Easter Monday.
