RGS High Wycombe won double gold at the National Schools Regatta in Nottingham for the first time in their history this weekend.
The school entered five crews with the J14 Doubles and J16 Coxless Quad both winning their events.
The J14s were first to show last Friday, with Ethan O’Connor and Lewis Howlett winning their semi-final comfortably before storming to victory in the final as well to bring the Summerfield Cup to High Wycombe.
A day later Alasdair Butler, James Beagles, Nick Davison and Sam Williams raced in the J16 group and after victory in their semi-final they won the Kingston Cup in a nail-biting final.
Geoff Baker and Owen Bryant said: “This is a fantastic achievement for a small school club and a well-deserved reward for the boys’ dedication over the winter.”
Meanwhile, the three remaining RGS crews [J14 coxed quad – Luke Goodier, Will Smith, Ben Dent, Henry James and Cox Jacob Leman; J15 double – Xiuchen Xu and Charlie Collins; J18 quad – Tom Commins, Ed Davis, Sam Williams and Alasdair Butler] all reached the semi-finals
