Wanderers’ manager Gareth Ainsworth is expecting to face a much changed Hartlepool side on Saturday when Ronnie Moore brings his bottom of the table team to Adams Park.

Paul Murray was in charge of the Pools when they lost 3-1 to the Chairboys at the end of November, but he has since been relieved of his duties with Moore installed as their new manager.

Two of the Wycombe players who scored in that win – Paris Cowan-Hall and Alfie Mawson – will not feature after the former completed a move to Millwall and the lattter’s loan deal expired.

Ainsworth is also expecting Saturday’s opponents to line up differently as their new manager looks to galvanise a team who are six points adrift of safety.

He said: “(They’ll be a) Totally, totally different side. It’s a different mentality when a new manager comes in.

“He’s looking for his first win, they had a good point against Oxford a few weeks ago, they took a beating on Sunday but they’ll be looking to come here and put a marker down and showing Ronnie exactly what they can do against us.

“I think we need to take this as seriously as every game from now until the end of the season. We’re going into the second half which is great to be where we are, but it will be a totally different proposition to what we faced six weeks ago.”

The festive period saw Wanderers pick up a point against both Luton and Shrewsbury - two of their promotion rivals - but they still slipped off the top on goal difference and now lie second in League Two.

The Blues boss was pleased to have emerged from two difficult fixtures unbeaten and has now set his sights on maintaining their lofty league position with good results in the ensuing two home matches.

“I think we’ve come through that test really well and I’m just pleased that we didn’t get beat against two of the teams that I fancy to be in and around the top of the league,” he said.

“We’ve done well getting points off them and when you’re in the same group as them that’s a nice thing to do. We’ve now got to keep the momentum up with two homes games. We can’t relax at all and think that just because we’ve taken points off two strong teams that the teams further down the league will be any easier.

“They’ll be fighting just as hard, and with the transfer window coming up teams are going to be changing shape radically over the next few months. The second half of the season is always a different kettle of fish to the first half and we’ll have to be wary of that.”
