Wanderers fans will be able to see their team in Europe for the first time since 2007 as the club’s plans for pre-season begin to take shape.

The Bucks Free Press understands Gareth Ainsworth and his players will be heading overseas with France their likely destination for a pre-season tour.

Plans are yet to be finalised for the trip, which will be funded by the club, but it’s likely that Wanderers will play two games to kick-off their pre-season schedule in July, before returning to play freindlies on home soil.

The club are set to announce details of the tour in due course but we understand their games abroad will be open to members of the public meaning the club’s fans will be able to follow them across the channel.

It will be the first time Blues have made a foray into Europe since they played out a 1-1 draw with then German third tier side SC Verl eight years ago.

Paul Lambert – who himself played in Germany with Dortmund – was Chairboys boss at the time and saw John Sutton open the scoring after only three minutes before the hosts responded shortly after.

In the build up to the 2001/02 season Lawrie Sanchez took Wanderers to Ireland for a two-match tour which consisted of games against Shelbourne and Bohemians.

Canadian Mark Rogers scored Wycombe’s consolation in a 2-1 defeat to Bohemians while Shelbourne recorded a 2-0 victory against Sanchez’s team.
