Blues boss Gareth Ainsworth is hoping the club can extend Michael Harriman’s loan deal from QPR beyond the end of January.

The winger has been in fine form of late and tops the club’s goal scoring charts with six goals, three of which have come in the last four matches.

He is expected to return to Loftus Road at the end of next month but Ainsworth confirmed he will do everything he can to keep him at the club.

“Michael is real big part of what we do here and is a real good player and I always say that I will try and keep my best players here as long as I can,” he explained.

“He is a multi-positional player and learning how to score, he got one with his head today which is great for Harri.

“You always want to keep your best players and Michael is an integral part of the team and has become the player I thought he would on the wing.”

Harriman’s strike on Tuesday night was greeted with incessant chants of his name and the Adams Park crowd have clearly taken to the 23-year-old.

It is a feeling that Ainsworth believes is mutual and feels it may be an essential ingredient in competing for his services against bigger clubs in January.

Ainsworth said: “I am really pleased with the way he has taken to the club and he loves it here which is important.

“As I say I want to keep him. We are in a food chain though and are quite low down that food chain so we will have to wait and see what happens.”
