Wanderers have strengthened their forward options by signing Reading striker Rowan Liburd on a one-month loan.

Blues boss Gareth Ainsworth was keen to bring in another forward after Paris Cowan-Hall was ruled out for the rest of the season with injury and the 23-year-old makes the temporary move to Adams Park having scored 11 goals in 14 appearances for the Royals youth team this season.

Ainsworth said: “I’ve seen Reading’s Under-21s play on countless occasions and he’s scored virtually every time. He’s a big lad who’s very quick across the ground and knows where the goal is, and we’re very much looking forward to working with him.

“As with any new player, we have to be careful not to expect too much from him too soon, but he is someone we’re confident can give us another dimension up front and I’m sure the fans will warm to him very quickly.”

“I’d like to thank Reading for allowing us to take him on loan and we hope we can help to continue his progress. We have an excellent relationship with them, which has been helped by us hosting their Under-21 home fixtures, and there may well be more opportunities in the future for us to give Football League experience to their young talents.”

The 6ft 3in front man began his career on a scholarship in America before returning to the UK where he netted 22 times in just five months for Isthmian Premier League side Billericay Town last season.

That prolific spell earned Liburd a summer move to the Madejski Stadium and he has gone on to make three Championship appearances in the current campaign as well as impressing for Reading Under-21s, who play their home games at Adams Park.
