High Wycombe have surged to the top of the table in the Home Counties Premier Division One after a six-wicket victory over Aston Rowant.

Dan Marles was the hero as his superb 90 not out saw High Wycombe home with 15 overs as they chased down their 154 target with comparative ease.

Bowling first, Cameron Parsons picked up his first senior five-fer and Jonathan Burden once again bowled tight and chipped in with two wickets.

With a target to chase, Nathan Hawkes (0) and Teddie Casterton (17) were out early but Marles in company with Gavin Baker played some delightful shots to shoot Wycombe to the top of the table.

Opening batsman Casterton said: “Dan batted superbly along with Gav and they saw us home really well.

“It was brilliant to see Cam get his first ever senior five-wicket haul and everyone at the moment seems to be chipping in with bat and ball.

“It was difficult to bat early on against the new ball and I played a loose shot and Nathan was unlucky to get out lbw but we just want to keep playing at the moment and it is really exciting.”

Wycombe face rivals Oxford at home this weekend and Casterton added: “It will be a tough game but we are just looking forward to playing at the moment.

“We have worked really hard and prepared for this game and we want to be as ruthless as possible and keep this running run going.

“It really is great to be part of and long may it continue for us.”
