SERGE Betsen will retain the Wasps captain’s armband for Sunday’s Guinness Premiership game with Northampton at Adams Park.
With club captain Raf Ibanez retiring on Monday, Betsen is likely to be installed as captain in the longer term too, sharing the role with Phil Vickery.
Director of rugby Ian McGeechan said: “We’re looking at Serge Betsen captaining the team right through this period of the Six Nations.
“Then we’re fortunate post Six Nations that we’ll have Serge and Phil Vickery.
“We were very pleased with Serge at the weekend and he too, has gained respect here very quickly.”
