WANDERERS boss Gary Waddock could toss rookie keeper Steve Arnold a first start tomorrow against the club that rejected him.

The Blues boss says every role in his team is under consideration as he tries to shake up his team following last week’s 4-1 battering at home to Yeovil.

He said the goalscoring performance of striker Matt Harrold was the only positive from last week and warned there would be several changes tomorrow.

And the gaffer wouldn’t rule out a debut for glovesman Arnold, the one-time Norwich reserve and Brentford reject he snared from non-league Eastleigh.

Waddock was typically keeping his cards close to his chest and wouldn’t rule anyone in or out.

Wycombe have no fresh injury concerns to worry them and right back Lewis Hunt has been able to get a full week’s training under his belt following the injury he received at Southend which kept him out of the last two games.

Whoever keeps goal and lines up in defence will be charged with keeping out former Wanderers loanee John Akinde who is now with the Bees.

Akinde’s seven goals in 11 appearances single-handedly took the stuttering Blues over the promotion line last season but he had much less of an impact when he was on loan at Adams Park earlier in the season, picking up and injury and a three match ban.

But Waddock knows the striker is capable of destroying teams.

He said: “I just hope he doesn’t perform to his max because he is a big strong handful who can tear teams apart.”

Waddock says he won’t be making any special plans for the former Adams Park favourite though.

He said: “You have concerns about the opposition but I’m very much about what we do and with the performance of last week it is all about getting ourselves back on track.

“Teams will hurt us but I want to go and hurt teams as well.”

Brentford, who went up with Wycombe last season, have been on fire recently with just one league defeat in eight and Waddock believes it is the perfect game for his side right now.

He said: “There is no better game for us to have next. We will see the characters and the ones who will stand up, fight and battle to get us out of this position.

“And if we don’t do that we’re not going to get out of the position we are in.

“We need people who are going to scrap, fight and roll up their sleeves.”
