BOSS Gary Waddock is playing down the signifigance of tomorrow’s relegation six pointer at Stockport County and says nothing will be decided by Saturday’s basement battle.

He said: “Everyone is building it up as a must-win game but it is not make or break. If we win it doesn’t mean we’re staying up and if we lose it doesn’t mean we’re down.

“It is a good opportunity for both teams to get three points but it won’t determine where we are at the end of the season. An away point is often a very good result.”

His team go into the match high on confidence after taking five points out of the last nine, while rock bottom Stockport ended a 17-match wait for a win with a 1-0 victory at fellow bottom four outfit Exeter last weekend.

But Waddock, who has had them watched on a number of occasions, says County are much better than their results and has warned Wycombe to underestimate them at their peril.

He said: “Everybody expected us to beat Yeovil and look what happened, we got beat 4-1 and we are going to be very mindful of that.

“People might think we are favourites because of our recent results but Stockport will see it exactly the same for them.

“They will see it as an opportunity to get closer to everyone else and they have got games in hand as well.”

And Waddock says a point at Edgeley Park would not be a bad return.

But he says his players will have to be switched on to tackle the Hatters and their notorious mudbath of a pitch.

He said: “Everybody has commented about the pitch but we have just got to get on with it and make sure everyone’s head is right.

“The players are focused and confident and we are looking to get a positive result.”

Centre half Adam Hinselwood comes back into contention after successfully coming through the midweek reserve game while joint top scorer Matt Harrold is back from the bug that forced him to miss the midweek draw with Southampton, although Gareth Ainsworth remains unavailable as he sits out his ban.

Waddock said: “I’ve got some big decisions to make, but they’re nice problems to have.

“We are looking a good confident side at the moment, we have been solid at the back, created chances and looked a threat. We have been playing well for a period of time now.”
