SKIPPER Roger Johnson tore into his teammates as Wanderers' 21-match unbeaten record came to a sticky end at Gigg Lane.

He accused some of them of surrendering without a fight and said Bury's battlers were not good enough to end the longest surviving unbeaten run in the country.

He was disgusted that having led 1-0 through Kevin Betsy's goal until the 87th minute, Wycombe sat back and conceded twice in a dramatic finale to inflict a first league defeat of the season on Wycombe and leave their record in tatters.

Johnson fumed: "It hurts to lose the record and it hurts even more to lose it the way we did.

"In the first half we were superb and it was probably too easy if anything but in the second half there were too many people who went missing.

"It sounds a bit harsh but that's my view.

"We lost the battle and we lost the fight in the second half and because of it we have lost our unbeaten record.

"I don't mind losing if we are not the better team but we lost it through a lack of heart and that is very disappointing. I don't think there is anyone has deserved to take the record off us. We lost it ourselves."

He added: "It's a big shock. We are not used to losing and we are going to have to take it on the chin.

"It's a horrible feeling and it is not something I want to experience again soon.

"I can't put my disappointment into words. The record has gone and now we've got to crack on and win promotion. We've got to show that we're a great team by bouncing back from this."

Wanderers, who remain four points clear at the top of League Two, get straight back in the saddle tonight when they travel to the Bescot Stadium to take on League One Walsall in the LDV Vans Trophy Southern Section Area quarter-finals.

Johnson said: "We've got to lift ourselves and try and win the game.

"We want to win this tournament."
