OVER a thousand runners will be taking to the streets of Marlow on Sunday for the annual Marlow 5 race.
Last year’s event attracted a record high number of entrants, with 1,975 competitors putting on their running shoes and heading for Higginson Park.
The race, which is organised by the Handy Cross Runners, begins at 9.30am and some of the roads around Marlow will be closed while the event is in progress.
Chiltern Harrier Thomas Beedell, formerly of Chesham, won last year’s race in a time of 26m3s, with Hayley Higham being the first woman across the line as she finished in tenth place in 27m24s.
All proceeds from the race will be donated to the Saunderton-based Hearing Dogs for the Deaf charity and Headway South Bucks.
