DEFENDER Dave Winfield has issued a rallying cry to his Wanderers team-mates, calling for them to prepare for battle against Charlton Athletic.
The table toppers arrive at Adams Park on Tuesday night and the big man says he’ll be making sure the rest of the Blues team stand up and are counted.
He said: “We’ve got a tough little run now. The boys need to pull together, roll our sleeves up and be counted when we are out there. If there’s enough of us that do that, we’ll get results. If there isn’t, we won’t – it’s as simple as that.
“I’ll be urging the boys on to do just that, and we’ll see where we go.
“We can’t continue to be an up and down team. We need to find that consistency to get points on the board. At the moment we’re not doing that.”
Winfield admitted he couldn’t put his finger on why Wanderers are enduring such an inconsistent run of performance.
He said: “That’s something we are going to have to get to the bottom of because at the moment it’s not good enough. Everybody wants to do as well as they can. That’s what we have to do to stay in this league but it’s not happening.”
