BLUES boss Gareth Ainsworth said Saturday's game at Portsmouth hinged on a second half miss from Matt McClure.
Ainsworth felt it would have been game over had the striker managed to convert the gilt edged chance in front of the raucous home faithful.
McClure had done all the hard work by getting the ball under close control and spinning past his marker before slicing over the top.
Wanderers were a goal to the good thanks to Sam Wood at that point and Ainsworth felt the three points would have been in the bag if McClure had converted his opportunity.
Soon after Pompey hit back to claim a share of the spoils thanks to Johnny Ertl's goal from a corner.
Ainsworth said: "We had a great chance to make it 2-0 and I think that could have been game over for us. You’d have put your house on Matt McClure scoring there. He’s a natural born finisher, it’s just deserted him at the crucial moment. In training he’ll slot them in and the net’s rippling.
"It’s tough in front of the home fans, it’s a big pressure one. Matt will learn from it. He’ll grow as a player, as they all will."
