Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth said there's no reason for anyone to panic as his side bid to bounce back after seeing their unbeaten run come to an end.

A midweek 2-0 defeat by Plymouth Argyle saw Wycombe's proud 12 match unbeaten streak finish, as they suffered only their fourth loss of the campaign.

Ainsworth said he and his players are desperate to right the wrongs of Tuesday night, as they seek to return to winning ways against managerless Newport County tomorrow.

He said: "There's no crisis here, because we've come off the back of a run of 12 unbeaten. I think any club would take that at this stage of the season. It's a tough stage of the season.

"The lads are desperate to get back out there and play, and I'm with them.

"We definitely haven't come off the rails. The Plymouth game was a similar game to others we've played in terms of shots and possession and getting into the final third - it was just the final ball letting us down and a couple of individual errors defending-wise."

Newport come to Adams Park tomorrow without a permanent manager, having seen Justin Edinburgh depart to take over League One side Gillingham last week.

His former assistant Jimmy Dack has been placed in caretaker charge, and he arrested a run of four successive defeats with a Tuesday night draw against Tranmere Rovers.

Ainsworth said: "Who knows on teams without managers? QPR haven't got a manager and they go and win away at Sunderland [having lost ten away matches in a row]. It's a crazy game and anything can be chucked up.

"I personally think we can't think any way whether it's easy or hard. We just have to approach it in a professional manner. That's the title of our job - we are professional footballers and we have to do that.

"Jimmy Dack is a very credible coach and he'll know what he wants. He'll be very similar to what Justin Edinburgh was doing, because he was his assistant.

"Justin's gone to Gillingham now and they have had a couple of games to get over that. Who knows, this could be the game when they all get it together - we have to try and make sure it's not."

County had gatecrashed the top three before their losing run and Ainsworth said: "Anyone can beat anyone in this league. They are very close to the play offs and they are there for a reason. It'll be a tough game on Saturday."

Courtney Senior's return to Brentford after the expiry of his loan means Blues may struggle to fill their substitutes' bench against Newport tomorrow.

Max Kretzschmar is likely to miss out with a thigh injury, while Paul Hayes remains sidelined with a calf problem.

Wanderers' top scorer stepped up his recovery by taking part in running exercises this week, but he is unlikely to return to action before the end of the month.
