Gareth Ainsworth says Wanderers’ games against Oxford and Burton are of “high importance” in their charge for promotion.

Blues return to Adams Park against Oxford on Friday after picking up two away wins on their travels before they go to the Pirelli stadium to for a top of table match against the Brewers.

Ainsworth said: “A derby game against Oxford, they’ll be taking it as seriously as us and they’ll want to get away from the bottom of the league. We need the points.

“Hopefully there will be fans galore at Adams Park because of the proximity of the two clubs over the Easter weekend. Then we have a big trip to Burton which everyone has their eye on.

“It’s a huge game but I’ll try and take the emotion out, keep calm and, as a football manager, it’s another game where we can add to our total.”

The Wycombe boss confirmed that Max Kretzschmar will miss out once again on Friday, but didn’t confirm whether he would return for the game against Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s team.

Blues will also be without Sido Jomabti, who is likely to be out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury, and Danny Rowe who has returned to Rotherham for Monday’s match against a team who are highly regarded by Ainsworth.

“They’re one of the best teams I’ve seen in this league,” he said.

“They played really well against us at Adams Park and not many teams have knocked three past us and kept us quiet like Burton did, so in that respect they’re probably the best team we have played against.”
