Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s decision to begin his managerial career at Burton is “great” for League Two, according to Blues boss Gareth Ainsworth.

The Dutchman took over at the Pirelli stadium in November and made his managerial debut against Wanderers at Adams Park.

Hasselbaink masterminded a 3-1 victory in front of the Sky cameras that night and has since turned Albion into title favourites ahead of the second meeting between the sides on Easter Monday.

“I think it shows now that having a good name in football doesn’t guarantee you a fantastic job,” said Ainsworth.

“Jimmy is a good guy, a real good guy, I like him a lot and he’s showing his humility and professionalism by taking a job like Burton to cut his teeth.

“It’s great for League Two because he’s a big name, but I think you can learn a lot in League Two and I’m very, very impressed with what he’s done so far.

“He’s a top guy. He’s a real good guy off the pitch, which is important. I’m pleased for him but on Monday we’ll be pitching ourselves against each other so we’ll see who comes out on top.”
