Wycombe Wanderers have handed a first EFL opportunity to defender Dan Scarr, bringing the Birmingham City youngster to the club on a loan deal until January 1st.

Scarr returns to Adams Park having scored against the Chairboys for non-league Stourbridge in the FA Cup third round clash in January, helping to earn him a move to the Championship club shortly after.

His progress for Birmingham’s under-23 side suffered a setback when he sustained a hip injury but he’s made a full recovery and been granted the opportunity to benefit from first-team football by heading out on loan.

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth said: “Dan came to our attention when we were preparing for the game against Stourbridge and I thought he was outstanding against us in that match.

“We were one of a number of clubs keeping an eye on him but he deserved his move to Birmingham and he will have learned a lot from being in a Championship environment in the past six months.

“Now we’re pleased to bring him in on loan and are looking forward to giving him the chance to compete for a place in our backline. We’ve been conceding too many goals and we believe Dan will strengthen our options, and also provide a threat from set pieces at the other end.

“He’s a big lad with a lot of ability and a fantastic appetite to succeed as a professional footballer, and that kind of character will see him fit perfectly into our squad.”

Scarr is available to face Forest Green Rovers at Adams Park on Saturday, and will wear squad number 28 during his time with the club.
