WANDERERS have been handed a boost with the news inspirational club captain Gareth Ainsworth has agreed a player-coach deal.

Blues' talismanic leader has put pen to paper on a one year contract to become the fourth Wanderers player to commit to the club for next season.

Ainsworth has become a firm favourite with the Adams Park faithful since joining in 2010, scooping the supporters' Player of the Year award despite featuring just 14 times in his first season.

Since then the veteran skipper has netted 15 times in 87 appearances for Wanderers.

The 39-year-old follows youngsters Josh Scowen - who agreed a new one-year contract on Friday - Anthony Stewart and Jesse Kewley-Graham in signing on for next season's League Two campaign.

Blues boss Gary Waddock is now only waiting to hear back from Matt Bloomfield, who was offered a new one year contract, and Charles Dunne, who is currently under contract but has been offered a longer term deal.
