THE prestigious Royal Windsor Horse Show was the stage for Sir William Borlase's Grammar School students to showcase their talents – with a foursome finishing in awesome second place.

Four teenagers represented the West Street school at the event for the first time in its history on May 12 and came runners up out of 32 teams.

It is the largest outdoor show of its kind.

School spokesman Hilary Martin said: “The team of Emily Martin, Kate Wallace, Elsebine Bolier and Hannah Martin all rode superb clear rounds in front of a huge crowd, with Hannah clocking up one of the fastest times of the day securing them second place out of 32 competing teams.

“This is a huge achievement for a state school in a sport dominated by large public schools.”
