TYRRELL Hatton has returned to Britain this week hoping to keep his stunning European Tour season going at the Welsh Open.

The Marlow star has for weeks been certain of a place in the multi-million pound Series Final in the Middle East, but that hasn’t distracted him as he followed his stunning performance in the European Masters with another exceptional display in the KLM Open.

He collected another £20,000 after coming tied 11th at the event in The Netherlands when he shot through the field with a superb final round.

Hatton, who has three top five finishes and six top 20s already in his debut season on Tour, opened with rounds of 68 and 67 to be in the mix.

A 72 on Saturday dropped him back, when he carded a quadruple bogey nine on the par five 12th, but seven birdies in his final round made up for that and he finish on minus eight, six shots behind winner Paul Casey.

Hatton is this week at Celtic Manor, where Lee Westwood will hope to play himself into form ahead of next week’s Ryder Cup.

Meanwhile, Hatton isn’t the only Bucks golfer shining on the continent.

Tom Wilde from Bourne End has just won his first event on the Alps Tour.

The Alps Tour follows a circuit through Spain, Italy, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and Austria.

Last weekend’s Citadelle Trophy International Championship is one of it’s flagship tournaments and Wilde, in his first year as a professional, took the trophy after rounds of 69, 75, 69, 64.

His eight under par final round of 64 helped him overcome a deficit of six shots and earned him a place in a three-man play-off, which he won with a birdie on the first extra hole.

Closer to home, 15-year-old Charlie Herbert recorded the lowest nett score in the Harewood Downs Club Championship to finish second overall behind Alex Wills.

Herbert, who is a pupil at Holmer Green, followed an opening 77 with a 66 to smash his previous best score by four shots.
