DAI Young says there is still work to do after what he described as an ‘uninspiring’ Wasps victory over Newcastle at Adams Park yesterday.
They won 35-18 with four tries to boot, but Young admits his team were underwhelming.
He said: “First and foremost our target was to win the game and coming away with a bonus point was as much as we could have got.
“In parts of the game I thought we were pretty good but in parts I thought we were messy so there is still lots to work on.
“I don’t think that was very inspiring.
“But we got the job done. We got back to winning ways and that was the important thing.”
Wasps looked in control after scoring the first two tries of the match, but Newcastle rallied and Wasps had to regroup to see it out.
Young said: “We played a lot of good stuff and looked in control but then let them back in.
“You’ve got to give them credit as well. They’ve done that all season. They’re a very hard to put away. They’re always gnawing at your heels.
“We’re not kidding ourselves. That wasn’t a vintage performance but we wouldn’t have got any more out of the game if we’d played to the best of our ability.
“We played 60-70 per cent of our capability, but we got what we wanted.”
