JACK Goff stole a march on his High Wycombe rival Tom Ingram in the British Touring Car Championships at Silverstone last weekend.

Goff put together a consistent set of results to move on to 111 points in the overall standings, while Ingram’s weekend was beset by problems leaving him on 95 points overall.

Goff was 13th in qualifying but set the second fastest lap in race one to come home in 11th place.

He again showed his pace in race two when he set the fastest lap in the field on his way to 14th, before ending his weekend with a top ten finish in race three.

He tweeted: “Thank you to everyone who came along this weekend to support me at SilverstoneUK for the Dunlop BTCC. Fastest lap in race two showed we had pace.”

Behind him, Ingram cut a frustrated figure.

His seventh place in qualifying proved his speed coming into the weekend, but a puncture ended his involvement in race one and in race two he could only finish 26th after a penalty for exceeding track limits.

That meant he started race three at the back of the grid and worked hard to climb up to 19th, but it was another frustrating weekend for him.

He tweeted: “Surely we deserve some good luck soon? Puncture in race one then a drive through for T/L in race two then had to start at the back!! ToughWeekend.”

Brands Hatch is next up in ten days.
